About Jillian Sullivan

Jillian Sullivan
Jillian Sullivan writes fiction and non-fiction for children, teenagers and adults.  Her work includes four novels, three collections of stories and over sixty short stories published in New Zealand and the United States.  She has won the Tom Fitzgibbon Award and the Maurice Gee Prize in Children's Writing in New Zealand, and the Highlights Fiction Award, twice, in the USA.

Jillian teaches creative writing at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology.  She lives near Motueka and has five children and four grand-daughters.  The biggest influences on her writing are her family, the landscape and music - she plays piano and has toured as a drummer in a rock band.  For seventeen years Jillian has lived by the sea, and now spends time in the mountains and out on her horse.
